We are a small nursery school that is affiliated with Columbia University and offers both half and full days (8-5:45pm) in an eleven-month program. We are housed in a brownstone on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

For the past 20 years we have embraced the Reggio Emilia philosophy and rely on the children’s interests to drive the curriculum and long-term projects. Our teachers are dedicated to furthering the children’s learning.

Open Positions

  • We are seeking substitute teachers for the 2026-2027 school year. The substitute teacher will assist the regular classroom teacher(s) in the daily supervision of children and working with children in whole and small group activities. They will also assist in light cleaning and classroom maintenance.

    All substitute teachers must undergo a complete background clearance through the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, provide an up-to-date medical form with immunizations, be authorized to work to work in the US, and complete required trainings by the NYCDOHMH.

    Hours and days will vary based and requests for substitutes may be scheduled in advance (due to planned absence) or last-minute due to teacher illness/emergency absences.

  • The Family Annex is a Reggio Emilia inspired preschool that is seeking an experienced, inspired, and motivated co-teacher for our two’s classroom for a maternity leave position. The teacher will work with an existing team of 3 other co-teachers in planning, leading groups, documenting work, providing provocations, assessment, participating in parent meetings, curriculum development, writing blogs and reports, and fulfilling responsibilities in the daily care of the children. This is a 5-day, full-time position.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree/enrolled in a Master’s degree program

    • Experience in the classroom and working with toddlers

    • NYS teaching certification preferred but not required

    • All teachers must undergo background clearance through NYC DOHMH, provide an up-to-date medical form, complete required trainings, and be eligible to work in the U.S.

    Salary is commensurate with experience and education. 

    This is a full-time maternity leave position that will begin in late October/early November and extend into the spring.
